West Nile Virus Found In Bath

A crow found in Bath tested positive for West Nile Virus, a virus transmitted by mosquitoes. While the risk to humans remains low, this finding is a reminder to take steps to protect yourself from mosquito bites. The CDC encourages draining sources of artificial standing water where mosquitoes can lay their eggs, covering exposed skin when outdoors, and using repellents.  The materials linked below provide education on mosquito bite prevention. Additionally, you can find mosquito-borne disease prevention videos through Maine CDC’s YouTube channel, or visit www.maine.gov/dhhs/vectorborne.
